Robby Collins presents his debut one man show, a highly anticipated stand-up comedy event; from the razor-sharp funny man who has shared the stage with SA`s biggest acts and is widely regarded as the next big thing in local comedy. Hard hitting and always current, Collins' show is both an autobiographical journey exploring his days growing up in Durban, and an observation of modern South Africa and everything that goes with it.
Explaining the title of the show, Collins likens himself to the Kalahari bushman. Just as the bushman is made to adapt to the harsh environment of the Kalahari, so has Collins adapted to the world around him, playing the role of the social commentator amidst “the madness of it all.”
Collins' style is unique and innovative, pulling no punches as he addresses a variety of everyday issues in a way you’ve never heard before. It’s loud, in you face but also thought provoking.
Robby Collins lists Richard Pryor and Dave Chappelle as two of his biggest comic influences. He says that Pryor’s early work helped shape his career.
Collins has been active on the national and local comedy scene and has shared the stage with some of the country’s biggest acts. He recently featured on Comedy Central Live at Parkers and also toured extensively with comedy heavyweight, Trevor Noah, on his “That’s Racist Tour” and “It’s My Culture.” He also worked as a writer on the Late Night News show with Loyiso Gola.
