National Youth Music Competition at Artscape Theatre

Young classical musicians between the ages of 14 and 19 years vie over four rounds for the coveted national title. They perform in the final round with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra.

Twenty four candidates from around South Africa have been selected from national auditions held in various main centres. Performers include pianists and soloists on a wide range of orchestral instruments.

All selected participants play in the first two rounds, but only a maximum of 12 will go through to the third round. Up to six finalists will perform with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra in the final round on 5 October.
