Daughters of the King is a fresh and original retelling of the Easter story through a spectacular multi-media stage production featuring live music, song, drama and dance, and utilising a spectacular LED-based set and innovative stage effects. But there’s an interesting twist – the story is told through the eyes of the women in Jesus’ life.
The stellar cast includes the cream of Gospel talent in South Africa, including Ntokozo Mbambo, Gloria Bosman, Rebecca Malope and Malie Kelly. Backing them up is Afrikaans Gospel star, Freddie Wessels, and a fabulous rainbow nation gospel choir, accompanied by an 8-piece live band under the baton of Music Maestro, Nqubeko Mbata.
Daughters of the King puts women centre stage in the Easter story. Interestingly, it was women who were the first to visit the tomb after the crucifixion. It was also a woman, Mary Magdalene, who was the first person Jesus appeared to after he rose from the dead. The disciples didn’t believe her. Women were looked down upon so the men rushed to the tomb to check her story. They had to see for themselves if Jesus could really have chosen a woman to be the first to see him after the resurrection. He had.
