Chumani Ngojo from Khayelitsha is a young spiritual singer / song-writer, who knows how to get an audience on their feet. Chumani Ngojo is also the founder of the Nu Holdings Company which seeks to find new gospel talent locally and thus formed the Nu Praize Band in 2012 with the intention of bringing a positive change to the music industry with an African and international gospel sound fused with local flavour. They started very small, singing at funerals, revivals, crusades, conferences and concerts.
In 2013 they toured the Western Cape to showcase themselves to a wider audience, and also launched their debut EP album.
In 2014, their EP album made a mark in the music industry both locally and nation-wide. They received five nominations from the Cape Town Victory Gospel Awards and won two awards, namely Best Contemporary Song and Best Male Artist. On the national platform they received two nominations from the SABC Crown Gospel Awards, which were Best Contemporary and Best Praise Song, and they won an award for the latter. They have shared the stage with American Gospel legend Vashaun Mitchells, a performer and producer of Tasha Cobbs, they also performed with well known South African singer / worshiper Mahalia Buchanan of Joyous Celebration.
