ShrinkRay Puppets and the Masque Theatre will kick off the new year with BUNNY AND THE MAGIC HAT, a puppet show for kids of all ages. In a backstage dressing room after a successful show, the magician lays down his black top-hat, hangs up his lustrous cloak and exits his quarters. Suddenly, a hungry Bunny pops out of the hat. Realising he is alone, Bunny attempts to make the ever elusive carrot appear, using the magician's wand. Unfortunately for Bunny, his magic all seems to go horribly wrong and he finds himself being chased by a vicious tropical fish, a pair of mischievous magic balls and a terrifying tentacle from a denizen of the deep. What will Bunny do? How will he save himself and most importantly, will he ever manage to get his carrot? In the making of BUNNY AND THE MAGIC HAT, Shrinkray Puppets articulated the vision and mission of creating a piece of high-quality puppet theatre for everyone to enjoy, no matter what their social, cultural or economic background. Directed by Jess Mias-Jones and performed by Andy Jones and Sivuyile Gaji, the show is an original, half-hour long puppet theatre piece designed for children aged three and up as well as for the adults who bring them to the theatre. The characters are gender neutral, and the show has no dialogue, making BUNNY AND THE MAGIC HAT a show appropriate for audiences of all cultures and languages.
