The word ‘Ababkhulu’ can be interpreted as The Elders/ The Great Ones/ The Authorities. From the voices of the youth, this dance work explores the beauty and cruelty of cultural traditions imposed by those with authority; it is about inclusion and exclusion, about equality and inequality; about asking questions versus silence and secrecy; about challenging traditions that may have lost their meaning and relevance.
