AT HER FEET evokes the experiences of four Muslim women in Cape Town whose lives are touched by 9/11 of and by the honour killing of a Jordanian girl. These women – a secular student, a tough-talking, scarf-wearing auntie, a Che-worshipping slam poetess, a recently married religious travel agent – narrate their own lives, offering vivid, funny and moving personal stories that speak to race, faith and belonging. Through movement, song, hip-hop, monologue and poetry these women invite the audience into their world. Written and directed by Nadia Davids and performed by Quanita Adams, AT HER FEET first exploded onto the South African theatre scene in 2002 and is now being performed in Cape Town for the first time in 13 years, following its first staging at the University of Cape Town, a South African tour, and performances in Holland, London and New York. Davids and Adams are delighted to bring this beloved work to a new generation of South Africans for a limited run in celebration of Women's Day as a part of the Artscape's Women’s Festival.
