VERITY and THE SHADES Starring VERITY and Accompanied by band comprising Tony Paco, Nelson Malela, Al Du Toit and Helder Gonzaga plays SUNDAYS 29th AUGUST, 05th and 12th SEPTEMBER 2010

VERITY and THE SHADES are a band set to take South Africa by storm. Their music has a distinctive African flavour with universal appeal that gets audiences up and dancing with them at every show. VERITY and THE SHADES features singer/songwriter Verity who hails from Zimbabwe and top musos Tony Paco from Mozambique on drums, Nelson Malela from Congo on keyboards, Al Du Toit from South Africa on guitar & Helder Gonzaga from Mozambique on bass. This meeting of musicians from across the continent has resulted in a band, that while diverse in it's influences, manages to deliver "pop rock songs with a flavour of Johnny Clegg strum guitar, Savuka drumming and a tamer version of a mix of Jewel and Shakira vocals." (Issue 2, Music Review).

Verity is best known for her innovative album project where she invited people to 'buy an album that didn't exist' via her website. In a world first, Verity sold over 2000 copies in 25 countries before going into studio and was able to hand over R30 000 to the two charities helping South African artistes and women. The album, named "Journey" by her fans, was recorded with award winning producers Paul McIver and Brian O'Shea and released in July 2008 having made South African music history and being featured on Carte Blanche, The Power Within and Journey to the Core amongst others.

VERITY and THE SHADES will take you on a journey unlike any other, with music that has delighted audiences across the country as well as in Europe and the USA. Their shows are uplifting, inspiring and thought provoking and their last On Broadway performance ended with a standing ovation and two encores! With musicians hailing from four African countries joined by two stunning and dynamic dancers, be prepared for a show that celebrates life, love and this rich, beautiful continent!
