Theatre Personality Frans Swart Dishes Pizza on FRANS KOOK! Radio Show

Radio personality, actor, director and theater producer Frans Swart, adds the title of "chef" to his resume, with broadcasts of his popular series, FRANS KOOK!, playing on eight different radio stations in South Africa and abroad with close to 500 000 listeners. Swart describes himself as an enthusiastic foodlover, who loves to share recipes for delicious dishes with listeners all over South Africa and in Australia, bringing together what he calls a "big food family."

Swart broadcasts FRANS KOOK! on All-Time Radio, Bok Radio, Impala Radio, Kosmos Stereo, Overvaal Stereo, Radio Kragbron, Radio Laeveld and SFM (Suid-Kaap Stereo). There is an exciting website, where all the recipes from the programme appear and, listeners can interact with the show on Facebook or by sending in their recipes by email.

Swart is not very fond of pizza, but he acknowledges the place of the pizza as a favourite "comfort food" worldwide: "There are those days when you do not want to climb out of bed. You want to watch three action movies and not change out of your pajamas. So you call the pizza place and they deliver it to you. I had just that kind of 'pajamas day' last Sunday. We had our last performance of MY BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BABA on Saturday night we were exhausted on Sunday. Around three o'clock, we ordered pizzas. And - without making the name of the pizza company public - I was disappointmented to have to eat the worst pizza I've had in my life! I have eaten the most wonderful and delicious pizzas in New York, I became very ill from a pizza in Amsterdam and I must say the Italian's pizzas on the MSC Sinfonia are also nice! So I really have mixed feelings about pizza. A bad pizza is terrible - but if you make a pizza well, it is the best comfort food, right?"

Following his experience, Swart decided that FRANS KOOK! should do a survey on the worst and best takeaway pizza in South Africa. In next week's radio shows, Swart will invite listeners from all of the radio stations on which FRANS KOOK! is broadcast and the general public to participate in the survey to determine which company makes the best pizzas in the country - and which makes the worst. Everything is going to be done very scientifically, with a questionnaire already having been drawn up on the FRANS KOOK! website. The official results will be released in the week of 8 February 2016 on FRANS KOOK!
