Godfrey Johnson and Nicholas McDiarmid, the shameless duo who brazenly made lemonade out of Drumpf and audiences into the Alexander Bar with their show THIS IS NOT AMERICA... HALLELUJAH in January, are back by popular demand with their ever-evolving comedy, songs and wit.
Johnson, one of South Africa's leading cabaret performers, has just returned from stormy Johannesburg after a stunningly received two-week run of the run of his critically acclaimed VASLAV, dazzling audiences at the Auto & General Theatre on Square with his unique brand of performance. He is joined in THIS IS NOT AMERICA... HALLELUJAH by pianist and writer, Nicholas McDiarmid, for a cabaret filled with songs, satire and dazzling piano duets.
The duo has selected songs by Tori Amos, Eurythmics, David Bowie and Leonard Cohen as well as a number of their own compositions, adding more of their singular piano acrobatics with exciting music for four hands. Lurking in the shadows are several caricatures and characters all begging to see the light.
THIS IS NOT AMERICA... HALLELUJAH runs from 16 - 18 March at 21:00. Tickets are available from the Alexander Bar website, costing R100 if booked and prepaid online or R120 if paid on collection at the bar. For telephone enquiries, call 021 300 1652. The Alexander Bar, Café and Theatre is situated at 76 Strand Street in the Cape Town city centre and can be followed on Facebook and Twitter.
