RSG and Lefra Productions will stage their second Oppiwater Arts Festival on the MSC Opera in March 2015. The first Oppiwater Arts Festival was sold out within six days and is a special and unique festival in that all of the productions are staged in venues aboard the the luxury MSC Opera: truly an arts festival on the water!
The MSC Opera is the largest and most modern ship ever to set sail in South African waters. The 59 000 ton ship offers magnificent facilities, including a putt-putt course, spa, gym, two swimming pools, jacuzzis, nine bars, three restaurants, lounges, a wonderful theater, the Teatro dell'Opera and a casino. The MSC boasts 856 cabins and 172 cabins and 28 suites have their own private balconies. The itinerary is as follows: the ship departs from Durban on 9 March, with stops at the Portuguese Island and Inhaca Islands on 10-11 March, and spends a day at sea on 12 March before returning to Durban on 13 March.
Frans Swart, CEO of Lefra Productions, says that this year's Oppiwater Arts Festival proved to be a roaring success: 'The concept is unique, because where in the world can someone attend an arts festival on a luxury boat to see along with wonderful meals and cocktails? Also with a visit to the Portuguese and Inhaca Islands?'
Magdaleen Kruger, the station manager of RSG agrees that the OPPIWATER ARTS is unique: "After the first Oppiwater, we were inundated with people who could not book a place. As a result of the overwhelming success of the first one, we decided to make it an annual institution. The quality of the entertainment is certainly of the highest quality and we look forward to Oppiwater 2."
Black also said that there are a record number of production for Oppiwater in 2015: 'It is very important to us that this remains an arts festival. We will offer 21 different productions with 30 performances, ranging from drama, comedy, cabaret and mime, which will be recorded by RSG." Bookings for the Oppiwater Arts Festival, which takes place from 9 to 13 March 2015, can be made at www.oppiwater.co.za or by calling 087 075 0889. Prices range from R4 900 to R11 080, but each passenger receives a full quotation before booking. It is important to use the RSG/Lefra Oppiwater Arts Festival as a reference for your booking. The reservation system has changed, because passengers can now book for productions at subsidized ticket prices from R10 - R50. After passengers have booked for the Oppiwater Arts Festival, they receive a booking number that can be used to book tickets for the productions through Computicket.
