Promotional artwork for SONIC
SCANS & RITUAL NOISE

A collaborative sonic and visual performance between Morning Pages, Justin Allart, Andrea Dico and Jason Stapleton titled SONIC SCANS and RITUAL NOISE will play the Alexander Upstairs for one night only this November.

Jason Stapleton captures surroundings in Cape Town using 3D lidar scans. He uses the point clouds as source material and manipulates them with various inputs in Resolume. These will be seen in juxtaposition with Justin Allart's heavy, distorted, cacophony-rumble of electronic textures and noise, manipulated by found objects on guitars and modulators, and Andrea Dico's textural drumming on old objects and a broken drum kit using sticks or chopsticks. Their sound will merge with the ambient noise and soundscaping of the Morning Pages ensemble, which consists of Lucy Hazard (visual projection, guitar and percussion), Helo Samo (samples, guitar and percussion), Frank Lunar (bass and percussion) and Caitlin Mkhasibe (drums and percussion).

Tickets for SONIC SCANS & RITUAL NOISE, which takes place on 20 November at 19:00, cost R60 and can be booked online at the Alexander Bar website or purchased at the bar. For telephone bookings and enquiries, call 021 300 1652. Alexander Bar & Café is situated at 76 Strand Street in the Cape Town city centre and can be followed on Facebook and Twitter.
