A staged reading of BLACK PROPHET DOWN, a new political text-in-development by Ian Tucker (A FUNNY THING HAPPENED (ON THE WAY TO THE TALENT SHOW)), will take place at the Alexander Bar and Café's Upstairs Theatre this Saturday afternoon. A fast thinking, fast talking political drama, this new South African play is inspired by Barack Obama's 2013 visit to South Africa. Set in the United States of America, BLACK PROPHET DOWN aims to tell a story of global significance.
Directed by Kim Kerfoot ("MASTER HAROLD..." AND THE BOYS, THE THINGS YOU LEFT BEHIND), the reading will be performed by Brendon Daniels (THE KINGMAKERS, ANTHOLOGY: A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER) and Rebecca Makin-Taylor (THE KINGMAKERS, LAST ROUNDS).
BLACK PROPHET DOWN will be read on 6 June at 15:00. Tickets cost R60 (R50 if paid in advance) and can be booked online at the Alexander Bar website or purchased in person at the bar at any time during its regular opening hours. Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Alexander Bar & Café is situated at 76 Strand Street in the Cape Town city centre and can be followed on Facebook and Twitter.
