The Fugard Theatre, in Cape Town, has extended their run of Richard O'Brien's smash hit musical THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW until the end of October 2013. The production, directed by Matthew Wild, has taken the Mother City by storm and has received rave reviews across the board playing to full houses each night since opening on 10 July. The Fugard Theatre's Executive Director, Daniel Galloway, said the box office has been overwhelmed by the massive demand for tickets: "I have never experienced anything quite like this in my theatre career in Cape Town."
The Rocky Horror Show's superb all-South African cast is led by Brendan van Rhyn as Dr Frank-N-Furter, Paul du Toit as Brad and Jenny Stead as Janet. The live onstage band accompanies the cast as they belt out the iconic hit songs "Science Fiction/Double Feature", "Dammit, Janet!", "Sweet Transvestite" and "The Time Warp" and has audiences rocking in their seats nightly.
Participation packs, for sale at R20 each, make for even more fun as theatre goers throw confetti, wave glowsticks and snap their plastic gloves as instructed by the Narrator. Dressing up for every performance has proven very popular amongst audience members - with fishnets and feather boas a plenty! There are official dress up nights on the 9th, 23rd August, 6th, 20th September and 18th October where the best dressed audience member (judged at the end of the season) can stand a chance to win a weekend away for two courtesy of Travel With Flair. So get a group together, plan those outfits and book your tickets today!
