Pieter-Dirk Uys Releases Novelization of PANORAMA

Pieter-Dirk Uys's internationally acclaimed play, PANORAMA, has been transformed into a novel about South Africa's past and present. Inspired by the 1987 drama, the novel takes the play as its core and enriches it with a 2009 development of the story.
Published by Missing Ink, the novel takes the opportunity to tell a small story set on Robben Island, right on the edge of the world, like a full stop at the end of a long sentence called Africa. In 1987, Sibi Makhale is allowed to visit her dying father in the maximum security prison of Robben Island. The daughter of banned parents, Sibi comes face to face with two suspiscious and frightened white schoolteachers resident on the island. It will prove to be a life-changing experience for all of them. Two decades later Sibi returns with her two born-free sons. An attempt at closure for her, an adventure for her boys and, for the reader, a remarkable journey back to the dark past. THis is the story at the heart of PANORAMA.Comments
