Only a few days remain until the opening of THREE'S A CROWD, a brand new play by Pfarelo Nekamonde. With a preview set for Wednesday this week, with a Thursday opening to follow, director Fatima Dike is sure to be busy making the final preparations for the play's run at Guga S'Thebe Arts and Culture Centre. Take a look at the show in rehearsal in the photographs below.
Produced by The Siyasanga Cape Town Theatre Company, THREE'S A CROWD is Nekamonde's second play, following CHOMI. Dike comments on the play and the choice to stage it in Langa:
It is yet another delightful comedy dealing with black gay issues from Pfarelo Nekamonde. Also, another first for our company is that we are staging it at Guga S'Thebe Arts and Culture Centre in Langa in the stunning new theatre there. Soweto has got its theatre, now Langa has its own. As a Langa resident, born and bred, this really thrills me.
A cast of four young actors, Ntokozo Majozi, Yanga Mkonto, Inga Sikweyiya and Nicholate Nongoshe, will bring THREE'S A CROWD to life. Designs for the production are by Paul Regenass.
Tickets for THREE'S A CROWD, costing R60.00, can be bought at the door. Performances begin at 19:30, with two matinees at 16:00 on 8 and 13 April, on which day the show closes. Tickets for the preview on 5 April cost two-for-the-price-of-one. Block bookings can be made by email.
