This spring VR Theatrical conjures up the irreverent Boy, the grumpy Grandfather, the lovable Duck, the fat Cat, the chirpy Bird and the big 'bad' Wolf in a whirlwind stage adaptation of this timeless tale, which has introduced generations of children to classical music and the instruments of the orchestra.
With a unique South African flair, this miniature masterpiece will include local sounds and flavours and make use of puppetry in its unique staging. The production aims to educate, whilst entertaining. With the set created entirely out of recycled paper that was contributed by various community groups and companies, the production aims to walk the recycling talk! Peter and the Wolf is the perfect introduction for youngsters to the magical world of Live Theatre.
Director Elizma Badenhorst said: 'I love telling stories and this one has the added bonus of having fantastic musical accompaniment. We have adapted the story a little to make it suitable for a modern younger audience while staying true to the essence of the original tale. It's a story about an irreverent boy, who succeeds where adults fail - it has an endless appeal to children. We can't wait to bring Peter and his cast of characters to life!'
Executive producer, Jaco van Rensburg said: 'Peter and the Wolf is a miniature masterpiece, which has the power to be reinvented with every generation. Our highly skilled creative team will ensure that the Wolf, the Cat, the Duck, the Bird, the Grandfather and Peter himself communicate with today's children in a powerful, contemporary and high-quality artistic experience.'
With excitement around every turn, Peter and the Wolf is one howling good time for the whole family!
