The loveable Oom Schalk is coming back to the Masque Theatre this January to tell his stories. F Creations, in partnership with The Merry Scholar, is proud to present OOM SCHALK, FROM THE HEART and invite audiences to come and listen as actor David Muller transports them back in time through the words of the famous character that Herman Charles Bosman created.
Muller, directed by Celia Musikanth of Circle Productions, has been telling Bosman's stories for several years now. The set is simple, the stories classic, and the performance is captivating. In his review of the 2014 edition of the production, BroadwayWorld theatre critic David Fick called the show 'warm' and 'comforting,' praising the show's 'folksy tone' and Muller's ability to 'capture the spirit of both the narrator and his stories.' Audiences are sure to love the warm-hearted character of Oom Schalk Lourens and the charm with which his stories unfold.
During this run at the Masque Theatre, Muller will be entertaining audiences with a combination of five of Bosman's stories. Three of these are new to his repertoire of Oom Schalk stories and are sure to delight. These are "White Ant", "Love Potion" and "Music Maker".
The run at the Masque Theatre in January also marks a new chapter and exciting partnership between The Merry Scholar and F Creations. Under the banner of The Merry Scholar, Muller has performed not only OOM SCHALK, FROM THE HEART but also several other solo shows. In 2016, he debuted his adaptation of the Bruce Clark book LOVE SEX FLEAS GOD. F Creations is excited to be teaming up with such a dynamic performer and looks forward to many collaborations in the future.
OOM SCHALK, FROM THE HEART runs from 17 - 20 January. Tickets cost R100 and can be booked by email or by phone on 0217881898.
