Nicky Schrire and James Scholfield will team up for 75 minutes of jazz and folk music at the Alexander Bar and Café's Upstairs Theatre come the ides of May.
London-born, South African-raised Schrire is a vocalist and composer praised for her versatility and inventiveness. She has performed in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, London, Dublin and South Africa, with musicians ranging from Sibongile Khumalo, Abdullah Ibrahim and Arno Carstens, to Grammy-nominated pianists Gerald Clayton and Gil Goldstein.
Scholfield grew up in Cape Town and is now based in Berlin where he tours with Concord recording artist Curtis Stigers. He has performed at venues including Ronnie Scotts, the Royal Albert Hall, the Monte Carlo Jazz Festival and the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
