South African's own Mime Master, John Jacobs, is back in South Africa with his new production, MY PASSIE VIR JESUS, following his representation of South Africa at the Leonid Yengibaryan International Mime Festival in Tsakhkadzor, Armenia last month. The production will play the Aardklop National Arts Festival for five performances only in October.
MY PASSIE VIE JESUS is a play without words, told exclusively through movement and facial expression. The play tells the unique story of Jesus of Nazareth - his suffering, death and resurrection - in a poignant way .
Born in South Africa, Jacobs has lived and worked in Paris, France for the last 20 years. He studied under the well-known Mime Master, Marcel Marceau where he qualified and also worked under Marceau for a number of years. Marceau also bestowed the title of Mime Master upon Jacobs.
MY PASSIE VIR JESUS will be performed at Aardklop at the Potchefstroom Boys High School on 4 October at 13 :00, 5 October at 16 :00, 6 October at 20 :00, 7 October at 09 :00 and 8 October at 13 :00. Bookings at are online through Computicket or by phone on 0861 915 8000.
