This year, Lefra Productions is presenting MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS, an Afrikaans translation of the new Ray Cooney farce, FUNNY MONEY. This is one of Cooney's very successful farces from London's West End is being performed for the first time in South Africa in Afrikaans. Peet van Rensburg did the translation and adaptation and Frans Swart is the director.
Henry Perkins (Chris van Niekerk), a typical suburban accountant, accidentally switches his case with that of another man on the train, only to find out that the bag contains a small fortune of £735,000. Hysterically humorous events follow take at a frenetic pace.
Other cast members include Amalia Uys, well known for her popular character, Sanmari van Graan, in SEWENDE LAAN, who returns to the stage as Betty Johnson. Also in the cast are Lulu Botha (Jean Perkins), Paul Lückhoff (Detective Davenport), Duncan Johnson (Bill), Chris van Rensburg (Vic Johnson), Botha Enslin (Detective Slater) and Phillru Achterbergh (Mr. Big).
Swart says he is very excited about the cast of MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS. "We have approached the best actions in South Africa to perform in this new farce. They are all actors with incredible comic abilities. I am especially excited to tackle this new farce. This play has never been done in South Africa and that is why we are all very excited to present this fresh farce South Africa and offer everyone a good laugh. "
