BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BABA

Lefra Productions is already well known for the laugh-out-loud farces that they present each year. This year's brand new farce is MY BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BABA, by Ray Cooney and his son, Michael Cooney. One of London's West End's most successful farces, MY BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BABA will visit the Innibos Arts Festival in Nelspruit from 30 June - 4 July 2015.

MY BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BABA introduces us to Tom Koekemoer (Cobus Venter). He and his wife, Linda (Cindy Swanepoel), are excited about the opportunity of adopting a baby. All that's needed is a visit by the social worker, Mrs Poggenpoel (Marga van Rooy) and the baby will be theirs. But things are not as easy as they seem. While Tom lives a respectable middle-class existence, the same can not be said of his brothers, Dick (Botha Enslin) and Harry (Francois van Rensburg). Although the brothers are close, to say that two-thirds of the trio are dysfunctional is an understatement. Dick has just returned from Zimbabwe with smuggled cigarettes and brandy, while Harry is trying to bury a cadaver in Tom's garden. To make matters worse, two illegal immigrants (Ana van Achterbergh and Dirk Vermeulen) make their appearance just as the prudish social worker arrives, along with a persistent police constable (Duncan Johnson) who gets wind of what might be going on at Tom's house and the scoundrel Boris (Phillru van Achterbergh) who is coming to get his payment - and what follows is a big mess!

MY BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BABA boasts top actors like Ana van Achterbergh (STAR SEARCH, LIEWE HEKSIE, MY BOETIE SE SUSSIE SE OU), Botha Enslin (HOUTKRUIS - DIE MUSICAL, DOGS OF THE BLUE GODS, MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS), Cindy Swanepoel (KRINGE IN 'N BOS, THE CRUCIBLE, CURL UP AND DYE), Cobus Venter (MY FAIR LADY, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, POSKANTOOR), Dirk Vermeulen (SIENER IN DIE SUBURBS, MOOI MARIA, BACCHUS VAN DIE BOLAND), Duncan Johnson (MY VROU SE MAN SE VROU, MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS, SEWENDE LAAN), Francois van Rensburg (TREE AAN!, ONS VIR JOU, JESUS - DIE MUSIEKBLYSPEL), Marga van Rooy (GROOT WIT ROOS, BEAUTY QUEEN, VETKOEKPALEIS) en Phillru van Achterbergh (HORINGS).

Director Frans Swart says that MY BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BABA is one of those farces which has all the elements in place to get people laughing - and to keep them laughing: "People should just come and relax and laugh about the antics of the Koekemoers. Scientists say there is nothing that allows one to relax better than laughing. And so it is such an honor for Lefra Productions to produce in this production. People don't want angst - our politics certainly takes very good care of that - our people want to laugh. And that's precisely what MY BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BABA is going to achieve."

Swart also says it's an exciting project. "BABA is a breath of fresh air, as it has never been done in South Africa. A totally new plot with many interesting twists and of course a good laugh!"

Swart adds that it has always been improtant for Lefra Productions to tour with their productions: "Although it is a challenge from a logistical point of view to tour with such a large cast and set, we definitely are going to take to the road and make it possible for the whole country to see the production."

Bookings for MY BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BOETIE SE BABA can be made online at Computicket or by calling 0861 915 8000. Groups of 10 or more can, as usual, obtain tickets at a discounted rate by calling 011 815 3000 or by emailing Lefra productions directly.
