The Long Shots team

Comedy will be the order of the day when MOTHER CITY SKETCH hits Alexander Bar Upstairs Theatre for a short season starting tonight, 16 July. Featuring Tamith Hattingh, Jason Delplanque, Andre Ballot, Rob Coutts, Sipumziwe 'Pags' Lucwaba, with guest appearances by Jessica Munna and Al Postman, MOTHER CITY SKETCH promises a rollicking 60 minutes of fun.

In MOTHER CITY SKETCH, the Long Shots improv comedy troupe and their special guests return to Alexander Bar to perform more original comedy skits. After their previous sold-out shows it, the Long Shots will also bring back some audience favourites along with new sketches and characters that audiences are sure to love. This collection will poke fun at gym classes, the habits of dating, wine tasting, loadshedding and much more.

MOTHER CITY SKETCH is devised, written and directed by The Long Shots with additional material by Jessica Munna and Robin Hitchcock (a previous Long Shot member and part of the all-female troupe Frankly Scarlett based in Pittsburgh, USA). Hitchcock wrote, directed and performed in the first MOTHER CITY SKETCH and now it continues to live on while she is away. The Long Shots, who comprise the core cast of the show, have been performing improvised comedy in Cape Town since 2011, and are thrilled to branch out again into scripted material.

MOTHER CITY SKETCH runs until 18 July at the Alexander Upstairs Theatre. Tickets cost R90 and can be booked online at the Alexander Bar website or purchased in person at the bar at any time during its regular opening hours. Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Alexander Bar & Café is situated at 76 Strand Street in the Cape Town city centre and can be followed on Facebook and Twitter.
