Lefra Productions to Bring Three Shows to 2013 Clover Aardklop National Arts Festival, 25-29 Sept.

This year, Lefra Productions will present three exciting productions at the annual Clover Aardklop National Arts Festival in Potchefstroom from 25 - 29 September: the hit farce, MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS by Ray Cooney, the band Smokie performing their popular music and a brand new LIEWE HEKSIE production.

Lefra Productions has once again produced a laugh-a-minute farce from the farce-master, Ray Cooney, translated by Peet van Rensburg as MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS. The production boasts top actors Chris van Niekerk, Amalia Uys, Lulu Botha, Paul Lückhoff, Duncan Johnson, Botha Enslin and Phillru of Achterbergh. Frans Swart directed the show, which deals with the fortunes of Henry Perkins (played by Van Niekerk), who accidentally switches his briefcase on the subway with an identical one. At his local pub, he discovers that he has swapped his cheese and chutney sandwich for £735,000 - and that's when all the fun begins! MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS will be staged at the Madiba Banquet Hall (Banketsaal1) at the following times: 24 September at 09:00; 25 September at 20:00; 26 September at 14:30, 27 September at 20:00 and 28 September at 13:00. British super group, Smokie, needs no introduction. With hits like "Living Next Door to Alice", "Have You Ever Seen The Rain?", "Mexican Girl", "Needles and Pins", "Don't Play Your Rock and Roll to Me" and hordes of other hits, Smokie hosts the party of the year at Aardklop. After 39 years, these rockers are just as much in demand as ever. "Actually," said Terry Uttley, bassist and founding member of Smokie, "We do not know where the success of Smokie lies. All we know is that people around the world appreciate our music and that they support our live shows. We were recently privileged to perform in Russia for 25,000 people. Lefra Productions is very excited to premiere two new LIEWE HEKSIE productions to Aardklop this year. Verna Vels celebrated her 80th birthday recently and she has written a brand new LIEWE HEKSIE story especially for Lefra Productions: LIEWE HEKSIE EN DIE TUINDWERGIE. LIEWE HEKSIE EN BOTTERBLOM will also be staged this year. Frans Swart, who adapted both stories for the stage, directs. Ana van Achterbergh plays Liewe Heksie. Other actors include Debré Rossouw, Botha Enslin and Phillru Achterbergh. Nadine Minnaar designed the colourful set and Trudie Ströh has created some brilliantly colourful costumes for the show. Swart, who is the C.E.O. of Lefra Productions, says he is very grateful that the Festival decided to invite three of Lefra's top productions to Aardklop: "Aardklop is a highlight of our calendar every year.
