Lefra Productions's Afrikaans adaptation of Ray Cooney and John Chapman's acclaimed West End farce, THERE GOES THE BRIDE, will be staged at Carnival City's Mardi Gras Theatre this July. Translated and adapted by Frans Swart with a delightfully local flavour, DAA' GAAT DIE BRUID! promises to be a side-splittingly funny show.

In DAA' GAAT DIE BRUID, bride-to be Judy Ackerman (Debrè Rossouw) getting ready for her wedding. Her ad agency executive father, Malan (Cobus Venter), gets banged on the head and wakes to find himself in the company of Polly Playtex (Ana van Achterbergh), a 1920s Flapper girl straight out of his current advertising campaign. It soon becomes clear that no one else can see or hear her and, when another bump on the head transports Malan back to 1926, the carefully planned wedding preparations descend into chaos as friends and family attempt to bring Malan back to reality and his daughter down the aisle before the in-laws abandon the wedding.

Bobby (Phillru van Achterbergh), Malan's overbearing personal assistant, adds to the chaos on stage. Add a bewildered grandfather (Lieb Bester ), a fiery grandmother (Marga van Rooy), an impatient father-in-law (Gert van Tonder), a hysterical mother (Edrien Erasmus) and a door or three into the mix, and all the ingredients of a laugh-a-minute Lefra farce are in place.

DAA' GAAT DIE BRUID! is presented with the proud support of Christo Strydom Nutrition, Stuttaford Van Lines, RSG, Sounds Good and McCarthy Volkswagen Arcadia. The show runs on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 6 - 19 June at 20:00, with 15:00 matinees on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Tickets are on sale at Computicket. Groups of ten or more can book directly through Lefra Productions by phone (011 815 3000) or email.
