Earl Gregory returns to play Joseph in JOSEPH AND
THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT

Pieter Toerien presents Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's sparkling family musical, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, on stage at Theatre on the Bay in the second half of this year.

Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph and his coat of many colours, this magical musical is packed full of unforgettable songs including "Any Dream Will Do" and "Close Every Door".

In JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, Earl Gregory (JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, CATS, SWEENEY TODD) returns to play the titular role that launched his career in 2004, for which he won the Naledi Award for Best Male Newcomer. Making a welcome return to the Montecasino stage is Bianca Le Grange (BLOOD BROTHERS, WEST SIDE STORY, DISTRICT SIX: KANALA) as the Narrator. Musical theatre fans will be delighted at the news that audience favourite Jonathan Roxmouth (SWEENEY TODD, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, SUNSET BOULEVARD) will work his magic as the Pharaoh. The show features a stunning score of the best South African musical theatre performers and dancers, and promises to be "a technicolor triumph" for the whole family to enjoy.

The creative team will once again, as in the 2004 production, be headed by Paul Warwick Griffin, who will direct, with musical supervision by Charl-Johan Lingenfelder and musical direction by Louis Zurnamer. Choreography will be by Duane Alexander. The 2004 production marked the beginning of an ongoing tradition of "bonsai" musicals, an idea conceived by Pieter Toerien for audiences at his theatres in Johannesburg and Cape Town. This year's production of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT is completely reimagined, with as much fun, cheek, exuberance, colour, music, dance, high energy, wit, gags, quirkiness and dazzle as ever.

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT runs at Theatre on the Bay from 12 August to 5 November, with performances on Mondays at 19:30, on Tuesdays Through Saturdays at 20:00, with matinees at 14:00 and 17:00 on Saturdays. Tickets, ranging in price from R95 - R350, are available from Computicket. Details of special group discounts are available from Geraldine Swanepoel on (011) 511 1988.
