Ian and Vivienne von Memerty in SYNERGY

Ian Von Memerty brings SYNERGY to Theatre on the Bay this month, and, together with his wife, Vivienne, will make onstage magic as he explores some of the greatest showbiz partnerships in the world and why they sometimes become bigger than the people involved.

Ian, known to South African audiences as "the king of versatility", and Vivienne, "the queen of dance", combine 26 years of life's struggles with their creative partnership to bring fresh insight into the synergy that happens when two people work as one.

Promising to be elegant and exciting entertainment, SYNERGY features a broad repertoire to suit all tastes. In the show, the duo brings to the stage the glamour of the Gershwin brothers ("I Got Rhythm", "Summertime"), the effervescent joy of The Sherman Brothers (MARY POPPINS, THE JUNGLE BOOK), the show-business sizzle of Kander and Ebb (CHICAGO, CABARET), the musical magic of Lennon and McCartney ("Yesterday", "Hey Jude"), the sophisticated drama of Desiree and Frederick in Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC ("Send In the Clowns", "You Must Meet My Wife"), and the laughter-filled poignancy of Tevye and Golde in Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick's FIDDLER ON THE ROOF ("If I Were A Rich Man", "Do You Love Me?").

SYNERGY also features Roelof Colyn - "the best set of fingers in the business" - on keyboards as well as beautiful musical arrangements for orchestra by Debbie Quicke, moody lighting by David Limbert and fabulous costumes from around the globe. The show runs at Theatre on the Bay from 18 - 30 July, nightly from Tuesdays to Saturdays at 20:00, with tickets from R100-R180 via Computicket, 08619158000 and 0214383301.
