Johannesburg's BoyLesque company will return to Alexander Bar with a 70-minute comedy-cabaret variety show when THE LATE NIGHT xxMAS BOYLESQUE SHOW opens this festive season.
Created by cult filmmaker Stanimir Stoykov, the show will feature the signature tongue in cheek BoyLesque antics, giving the classic American style of burlesque comedy and striptease performances a twist. BoyLesque has a distinctly South African irreverence, a fun journey through an itinerary of genres and styles of performance from comedy, cabaret, ballet and drag, voguing and, of course, the art of strip tease.
Boylesque had its first run at the Foxwood Theatre in February 2013 and has performed seasons in venues like the Auto & General Theatre on the Square, the POPart Theatre in the Maboneng Precinct, Cantare at Monte Casino and Casta Diva in Pretoria in addition to Cape Town's Alexander Bar Upstairs Theatre.Watching the BoyLesque dancers unwrap their presents this Christmas will cost R150 if booked and prepaid online at the Alexander Bar's website, or R180 if paid for at the theatre or booked at bar itself. THE LATE NIGHT xxMAS BOYLESQUE SHOW runs from 21 - 26 December at 9pm nightly, with an 8pm performance taking place on 27 December. Tickets can be purchased at the bar, which is situated at 76 Strand Street in Cape Town's city centre, anytime during its regular opening hours. Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Keep up to date with events at Alexander Bar on Facebook and Twitter. Further information about the BoyLesque troupe can be found on their Facebook page.
