Two superb productions, produced by the Fugard Theatre in Cape Town, have been awarded prestigious Fleur du Cap and Naledi Theatre Awards.
At a glittering event on Sunday evening at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW presented by Eric Abraham and the Fugard Theatre, received three awards: for Brendon van Rhyn as Best Lead Actor in a Musical, Andrew Laubscher as best Supporting Actor in a Musical and for Daneel van der Walt as Best Supporting Actress in a Musical. BLOOD BROTHERS which is co-produced by the Fugard Theatre and Theatre on the Bay, received two Naledi's last night, awarded to David Kramer and Alistair Izobell for Best Score/Arrangement/Adaptation and for Bianca Le Grange for Best Female Performance in a Musical. The Naledis took place at the Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg.
BLOOD BROTHERS is currently playing at the Fugard until end April 2014, having recently been extended by popular demand. The show stars a talented all-local cast including Bianca Le Grange as Mrs. Johnstone; singing sensation Alistair Izobell as the Narrator, 2013 Fleur du Cap Theatre Award winner Dean Balie as Eddie, Ephraim Gordon as Mickey, Carlo Daniels as Sammy, Marlo Minnaar as Mr Lyons and Lynelle Kenned as Mrs. Lyons. Andrea Frankson plays the role of Linda, while Shadley Schroeder, Junaid Booysen, Sue Pyler and Monique Rockman complete the excellent line up.
