FOLK ROCK HEROES, the latest show from musical director Mike McCullagh (60 Something, Myths and Legends, Rockin' the Rainbow and Country Classics amongst others) opens at On Broadway on Tuesday 02nd February 2010.

The all-star cast is ably led by Mike himself on drums and percussion, Riyaan Cornelius, Lucy Holgate and Kevin Abbott on lead vocals and guitars, Neil Peyton on bass and Lorenzo Bastiaan on lead guitar.

Folk-rock is a genre of music incorporating elements of rock music and folk music epitomised by tight harmonies and distortion-free guitar with free-flowing drums and bass. It's overall influence on music generally has often been vastly underestimated and as such music lovers worldwide don't quite realise its true value. Many top rock bands have paid homage to folk-rock because of it's roots in folk music (stemming from the middle ages) and the rock music of the 60's.

FOLK ROCK HEREOES pays tribute to some of these artistes along with those who started the trend in the 60's. Utilizing Cape Town's top young talent the audience are taken on a musical journey through the history of folk-rock from the 60's to the 90's, and in true Mike McCullagh style are invited to sing, dance or participate any way they like in this high energy tribute show.

Typical folk-rock heroes including Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Jim Croce, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills and Nash, The Byrds, The Mamas and the Papas, Simon and Garfunkel, The Turtles, Steeleye Span, The Strawbs, Jethro Tull, The Dubliners and others. Along with these are rock legends who always included folk-rock in their repertoire and on their albums - The Beatles, The Eagles, U2 and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Tickets are R85 per person.
Dinner is served from 18h30, the show begins at 20h30 (if you are only coming for the show you need to please be seated by 20h00). For bookings please call 021 424 1194 or visit our website www.onbroadway.co.za.
