Aviwe November

Aviwe November's E-QUA-NI-MI-TY will be staged this November as a fundraiser to assist November in raising money for his living expenses when he takes up a prestigiuous scholarship that he has been offered to study choreography in San Francisco. With the scholarship covering only tuition fees, this exciting young dancer is hoping to raise funds towards his cost of living through this production of his own choreographed work.

Danced by Darion Adams, Chane Otto, Chelsea Easterbrook, Buyile Narwele and Mcebisi David Xotyeni, E-QUA-NI-MI-TY deals with the internal whirlwind that comes with change, with falling in love, with discovering independence. Constructed from progressive sections, It is about feelings finding form, about making meaning and about the calm before the storm.

November was born and raised in Ashton, 200km outside of Cape Town, and attended Ashton C.P. school. He started dancing at the age of 17 years. In 2011, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Cape Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA) for 3 years, under the direction of Debbie Turner, where he trained in ballet, contemporary, drama and singing. He went on to perform with the Cape Dance Company (CDC) and is currently performing in Underground Dance Theatre's BOK which premiered at the National Arts Festival in 2014 and will perform again this November at Magnet Theatre. In 2013, he attended a prestigious summer program at Washington Ballet School in Washington DC, and again this year at Alonzo King LINES Ballet in San Francisco. For the last two years, he has been teaching dance and guest choreographing. He recently directed and choreographed his first production ORENDA and is currently working on his second E-QUA-NI-MI-TY.

E-QUA-NI-MI-TY runs at the Theatre Arts Admin from 21 - 23 November at 7pm nightly, with tickets costing R100. A 4pm "pay as you can" matinee will also be performed on 22 November. Tickets are available on the Theatre Arts Admin Collective website.
