The Alexander Bar, Café and Theatre will host a one night show specifically for the German-speaking community, an evening of sketch comedy written and played in German by Oskar Brown and Sofie Junker.

In Berlin, you get an overpriced kebab for 4 euros. In Cape Town, you get a first-class German-language comedy for the same price: LITTLE GERMANY. Travel through Germany with Brown and Junker as they tackle all of the important topics in life, from bio-dads to the Goldelse. On this trip, nothing is certain: there are no taboos and there are no kebabs. Well, there might be kebabs. So present your boarding tickets and head on down to LITTLE GERMANY.

Brown is a University of Cape Town-trained theatre-maker who moved to Berlin in 2010. Since then he has appeared in numerous German films (with his clothing on) and all over the world in the immensely well-attended play BETWEEN (with his clothing off).

Junker is a young German actress, known for her film appearances in TATORT and PAULA, directed by Christian Schwochow. She recently played a leading role in the popular German television Series IN ALLER FREUNDSCHAFT - DIE JUNGEN ÄRZTE.

Say the theatre-makers:

This show is in German. If you don't speak German, then this is probably not the right show for you. We wanted to write "Nur für Deutsche!", but the last time we did that, it didn't work out so well...

LITTLE GERMANY runs at the Alexander Bar's Upstairs Theatre on 12 November at 19:00. Tickets cost R80-R90 and can be booked online or at the bar, anytime during its regular opening hours. Telephone bookings can be made on 021 300 1652. Alexander Bar & Café is situated on 76 Strand Street in Cape Town's CBD. Find out more about the venue on Facebook or Twitter.
