DISTRICT SIX - KANALA Extends Run at The Fugard Theatre Through July

Owing to popular demand and after an extraordinary run thus far, the Eric Abraham and Fugard Theatre production of DISTRICT SIX - KANALA, David Kramer's brand new musical tribute, has now been extended to 3 July 2016, which will also be the official closing date of the show.

DISTRICT SIX - KANALA enjoyed its premiere on 11 February 2016 at the historic Fugard Theatre located in District Six, precisely 50 years to the day after the Group Areas Act declared District Six as a "whites only area". This musical tribute pays homage to what was once a vibrant, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural community.

David Kramer, the creator of the show comments on its reception:

I am truly honoured by the heartfelt response to KANALA that we are receiving from the local community. I know that Taliep would have been thrilled to have his work showcased in a theatre in Caledon Street, which was once part of District Six.

The cast includes Loukmaan Adams (DISTRICT SIX - THE MUSICAL, KAT & THE KINGS), Carmen Maarman (THE KRAMER PETERSEN SONGBOOK, DISTRICT SIX - THE MUSICAL), Sne Dladla (ORPHEUS IN AFRICA, FERGUS OF GALLOWAY), Natasha Hess (ORPHEUS IN AFRICA, WEST SIDE STORY), Andrea Frankson (BLOOD BROTHERS), Carlo Daniels (ORPHEUS IN AFRICA, BLOOD BROTHERS), Edith Plaatjies (ORPHEUS IN AFRICA) and Cleo Raatus (BLACK DOG, WHAT WE WISH FOR).

With thunderous applause and standing ovations at each performance, the Fugard Theatre invites more of Cape Town to come out and join in the experience of the creative passion and talent flawlessly delivered by the superb production team and cast. Secure parking is available diagonally opposite the theatre and on days when the weather permits the rooftop terrace is open before and after every performance, come and join us for spectacular views of the city and the mountain. The Fugard main bar serves delicious basket-style snacks before and after each performance too and patrons are encouraged to make use of our interval drinks system where they can pre-order refreshments for the interval.

A special family of 4 discount is available where patrons can purchase 4 tickets for only R600 for performances on Tuesdays to Thursdays at 8pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 4pm.
