Lefra Productions is already known for their laugh-out-loud farces that have been entertaining audiences nationwide since 2012. This year, it is the turn of farce king Frans Swart's Afrikaans translation of Ray Cooney and John Chapman's runaway hit, DAA' GAAT DIE BRUID! to visit the KKNK in Oudtshoorn, where it is enjoying a sold-out run through 30 March. An extra performance has been scheduled for 28 March to accommodate the demand for tickets for this production.

DAA' GAAT DIE BRUID! has proved to be incredibly popular at this year's festival, with audiences in stitches of laughter at the antics that take place at the crazy wedding that serves as the setting of the play. DAA' GAAT DIE BRUID! starts off with Judy (Debrè Rossouw) looking forward to her wedding. On the morning of the big day, everyone is hurrying to get everything ready for the ceremony - and then the farce kicks into action. While Judy and her mother, Ursula (Edrien Erasmus), are ready to leave for the church, her father, Malan (Cobus Venter), the chief executive of an advertising company, takes a blow to the head. Polly (Ana van Achterbergh), 'n beautiful "cut-out" from one of his advertising campaigns comes to life. Add a senile grandmother (Marga van Rooy), a difficult grandfather (Lieb Bester), a lost father-in-law (Gert van Tonder), a flamboyant assistant (Phillru van Achterbergh) and a door or three, and all of the classic elements of a top quality farce are in play!

The original THERE GOES THE BRIDE is one of Cooney and Chapman's most successful West End farces to date. Swart says that he is very excited to see his translation of the play, which he is also directing, on local stages:

The beauty is that this farce has never been staged in South Africa, and so no one knows the story or denouement. We are extremely thankful and excited that the festival-goers here at KKNK like BRUID so much.

The extra performance of DAA' GAAT DIE BRUID! will take place at 14:00 on 28 March and tickets can be booked online at Computicket. Visit the show's official website for further information.
