One of South Africa's favourite comics, Nik Rabinowitz, brings his hit one man show, STAND UP, to Joburg's Lyric Theatre on Saturday, 1 March 2014 for one night only. The show played a sold out season in Cape Town at the end of last year.
STAND UP takes the "Pistorius" out of everything South African, whilst simultaneously giving the world a deep, full-cavity medical check-up. Rabinowitz says his latest offering is "about so many things: like the time I went to Canada and saw a moose eating flowers in a Shoprite. And the time I watched BOER SOEK 'N VROU on Kyknet. And the other time I went to Israel to play cricket to bring about world peace (#fail)."
There's a whole lot more, of course, featuring some of our favourite characters like Oscar, Julius and Jacob, and of course, new celebrity power-couple Mamphelen.
Embark on a thrilling journey through the poorly lit, insane reality TV series we call South Africa, and emerge at the other end, sane and happy to live in one of the most tjatjarag countries on planet Earth. It`s so funny, it`s almost criminal.
STAND UP starring Nik Rabinowitz, and featuring opening act Kagiso 'KG' Mokgadi, is at the Lyric Theatre on Saturday 1st March, 2014 at 8:30pm. Tickets cost from R120 to R150 via Computicket or 08619158000. The show carries an age restriction of PG16.
