Hot on the heels of its critically acclaimed production of John Neumeier ballets, SPRING & FALL, plus the world première of a brand new children's ballet, THUMBELINA, the Cape Town City Ballet (CTCB) continues its winning streak with GALA OCCASION, another glittering production celebrating the company's 80th anniversary.

Brimming with pure nostalgia and glorious highlights from CTCB's most memorable productions, GALA OCCASION is set to showcase the company's expertise and talents in excerpts from works choreographed by Cecily Robinson, Gary Burne, David Poole, Norman Furber, Andre Prokovsky, Veronica Paeper, Robin van Wyk and others.

To the delight of Cape Town audiences, GALA OCCASION will feature appearances by former prima ballerina Tracy Li and her well-known dance partner, Daniel Ranja. The couple, who formed one of the most lasting CTCB partnerships, will perform the Act I "Eurydice and Pluto" pas de deux from ORPHEUS IN THE UNDERWORLD in selected performances. Another familiar face, former ballerina Janet Lindup, will team up with Johnny Bovang in LA FAMILLE, choreographed in memory of the late ballet doyenne, Dulcie Howes.

Other highlights on the programme include the "Men's Dance" from Raymonda, "Waltz of the Hours" from COPPELIA, "Spring Waters" and excerpts from ROMEO AND JULIET, ZHIVAGO and LA BAYADERE.

Cape Town City Ballet presents GALA OCCASON at the Artscape Opera House for a limited season of four perforamnces only on 15, 19 and 22 November at 19h30 and on 22 November at 14h00. Tickets from R100 to R200 are available at Computicket or Artscape Dial-a-Seat on 021 421 7695.
