Backsberg Wine Estate has released the lineup for their much anticipated 2018 Picnic Concert Series, which takes place every Sunday from 18 February to 18 March this year. The bands this year are Spoegwolf on 18 February, Valiant Swart Trio on 25 February, Manouche on 4 March, a double bill with Sutherland and Nic Preen (the lead singer of Al Bairre) on 11 March, and Bottomless Coffee Band wrapping up the season on 18 March.

In 2010, Backsberg Estate Cellars presented their first Picnic Concert Series, one of the first wine farms in the Cape to do so. Since then, the popular events have become a much-anticipated staple on the Winelands entertainment calendar and have gained a loyal following of people who love to take advantage of the long, hot summer days during one of the most stunning times of the year in the region. There's nothing better than ending off the weekend lazing under the trees on the sprawling lawns and enjoying fine wines, great food and live music by some of the best South African musical entertainment on offer. Kids get to have their fun too with jumping castles and lawn games. It is the perfect way for families to wind down ahead of a new work and school week, relaxing in a gorgeous setting with family and friends, surrounded by lush vineyards and the incomparable beauty of the surrounding Simonsberg Mountain range.

Simon Back, CEO of Backsberg, who joined his father Michael Back in the business in 2008, comments:

Wine and hospitality have always been an integral part of the Backsberg tradition - it shows how the wine industry can successfully merge hospitality, entertainment and lifestyle.

Backsberg is a 100-year-old family run farm that was started by Michael's enterprising grandfather C. L. Back who arrived at the Cape from Lithuania and made his way from doing deliveries to owning a butchery at Paarl station that he sold to purchase a farm that would eventually become known as Backsberg.
