Artscape Theatre Centre is gearing to celebrate the achievements of artists who underwent various accredited training courses through the Artscape Resource Centre, at a certification ceremony to be held on the 10th November 2017 at 13:00.

Various arts administrators from community arts organisations and emerging up and coming artists have received accredited training through the facilitation of the Artscape Resource Centre. This accreditation programme was done by the University of the North West to enhance not just their craft but the business and financial wellness of their entities.

The year-long investment by Artscape will ensure that the recipients from various communities across the Western Cape province return to their communities with accredited certificates that add value to their educational records and to create sustainable programmes with greater impact.

Recipients who concluded accredited training at Artscape covered subjects such as arts and culture management on community level, entrepreneurship in the arts, introduction to project management in the arts, arts governance, marketing for community arts organisations and the management of community arts festivals. In addition, those who concluded the year-long Incubator programme, supported by the Department of Arts and Culture, will receive their certificates too.

Says Artscape's Director of Inclusive Arts, Thoko Ntshinga: "This year through the Resource Centre, the entity looked closely at the participants. After consultation and interviews it was clear that the community organisations needed more assistance from the administrative side. These groups consist of mainly performing artists dancers and singers who have started organisations. It was befitting to then equip all of them with accredited courses to continue running their community organisations and make informed decisions. This has been an exciting journey for them all."
