At a press conference today, the Washington Pavilion announced a new "Pillar Partners" recognition program highlighting its most significant community supporters, as well as several new initiatives and programs planned for 2018.
The newly established Pillar Partners program includes six corporate sponsors and the City of Sioux Falls. Each partner organization has a rich history of providing significant financial support to the Pavilion, and each recently made a multi-year commitment to continue the partnership.
Pillar Partner representatives from Avera Health, First National Bank in Sioux Falls, First Premier Bank, Premier Bankcard, Howalt McDowell Insurance, Sanford Health and the City of Sioux Falls, including Mayor Mike Huether, spoke about the importance of the Washington Pavilion to the Sioux Falls community and the region, and why they support the organization.
Washington Pavilion President and CEO Darrin Smith shared the reason behind the Pillar Partner program, "These organizations have been supportive of the Pavilion for a long period of time and will continue to partner with us into the foreseeable future. It was important to us that we recognize these longstanding and significant sponsors for their trust and commitment to the Washington Pavilion," Smith stated.
Additionally, Smith spoke of Washington Pavilion achievements in 2017 as well as new plans and developments for 2018.
In 2017, the Pavilion broke the all-time record for highest number of Pavilion Performance Series subscribers, the highest ever number of tickets sold in a calendar year, and the largest number of tickets sold to a single show. Also, Pavilion memberships are up more than 15% since 2015 and museum attendance is at its highest in nearly five years.
In 2018, plans are underway for a makeover of two Kirby Science Discovery Center floors, the Visual Arts Center will be introducing new family-friendly exhibits and programming, and the Pavilion is developing a new patron engagement model for the entire facility to enhance the visitor experience.
"The Washington Pavilion continues to pay big dividends for Sioux Falls, and with Darrin and his team taking public/private partnerships to an all new level, I know we can expect even bigger things. We are so fortunate to have stewards in our community that were announced today," stated Mayor Mike Huether.
The Washington Pavilion is the region's home for the arts, entertainment and science. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in downtown Sioux Falls, it is one of only a few facilities in the world to bring together under one roof the performing arts, visual arts and interactive science.
