Through 15 new permanent exhibits and several favorites from our current Air and Space exhibition, visitors will now be able to experience traveling to, living and working in space. Kirby Science Discovery Center Director Erica Lacey and her team are prepared for all of the new opportunities which include enhanced programs and activities. Lacey shared that, "It's been exciting to bring this gallery that creates wonderment and inspiration for our patrons at the science center. Space and its exploration continue to be relevant in our community and beyond and we have an opportunity to share the next chapter of the story. The new exhibits focus on current and future exploration through immersive experiences."
Darrin Smith, Washington Pavilion President & CEO is looking towards the future as well as embracing this day. "The new Space Gallery in the Kirby Science Discovery Center represents one of the most significant improvements in nearly a decade, and is one of the single largest investments since the opening of the Washington Pavilion going back to 1999," statEd Smith. "Our community and our region need to understand that we are just getting started, we recognize the most successful science centers introduce new learning experiences and exhibit opportunities on a regular basis, and that's what they will see in the Kirby Science Discovery Center going forward," Smith continued.
