Beginning October 29, the Sioux Empire Community Theatre will present The Miracle Worker, by William Gibson, which tells the dramatic true story of Annie Sullivan and her student, blind, deaf, and mute Helen Keller. Trapped in a secret, silent world, unable to communicate only Annie realizes that there is a human mind and spirit waiting to be rescued from her dark well of silence. With scenes of intense physical and emotional confrontation, mixed with surprising moments of humor, Annie's success with Helen culminates in one of the most memorable scenes in Broadway history.
Season tickets are now available for only $42 a piece. With a season ticket you will receive postcard announcements alerting you to reserve your seats for each show.
Reservations for patrons begin one week before box office opens to the general public. Individual tickets are $15 for The Miracle Worker and The Odd Couple and $20 for Annie. All performances will be held at the historic Orpehum Theater in downtown Sioux Falls, 315 N. Phillips Avenue.

Believing that local theatre is vital to the fabric of the community, a number of local theatre enthusiasts began meeting in the Spring of 2003 to explore the possibility of funding a brand-new community theatre. After input from the Sioux Empire Arts Council, the business community, the City of Sioux Falls, and local artists and educators, the Sioux Empire Community Theatre (SECT) was born.
In the summer of 2003 SECT was formally organized and incorporated with the State of South Dakota. A Board of Directors was selected, and at the first board meeting the Board of members dipped into their pockets to come up with enough money for a Post Office box. In September 2004 SECT became a 501 (C) (3) organization.
