TiGaia is a contemporary music performance that brings together three distinct Asian music cultures to create an infectious brand of world music.
The performance will feature traditional instruments from three different cultures – the Chinese pipa, Malay gambus and Indian bansuri. Learn more about these traditional instruments and how they are usually played in social settings.
Kulcha will also play these instruments alongside other traditional instruments like the Indonesian angklung, kendang and rindik, Middle Eastern darbuka and African djembes to create a contemporary sound. With the help of the musicians, the audience will also be invited to be part of the music-making experience by playing together.
Through this fusion music performance, students will be able to learn more about traditional music instruments and relate to them through contemporary music arrangements.
