Khusugtun is a khöömii (throat singing) ensemble that performs modern arrangements of Mongolian folk songs that have been passed down for generations. The six-member ensemble specialises in this unique art form in which vocal musicians are able to sing at least two distinct musical notes at the same time. An award-winning ensemble at international throat singing competitions, Khusugtun has performed at international events such as the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall, UK, and the Sarawak Rainforest Music Festival in Malaysia.
The ensemble showcases their unique style of singing through a repertoire that includes a cappella singing as well as musical accompaniment by traditional Mongolian instruments such as the horse-head and grand fiddles, yatga zither and more.
