Two dancers, living across continents, contemplate a duet across space and time. They connect in fragmented encounters, first in emails and phone calls; and then in their actual meeting, where the dance unfolds in moments of serendipity and intimacy. What happens when their bodies meet, touch, collide and coalesce?
Dance-makers Ming Poon and Scarlet Yu’s The infinitesimal distance between two bodies shines a light on the process of two dancers reaching out to each other, and the collision and merging of their ideas, fantasies and emotions.
Go backstage with the dancers and experience this personal and intimate journey that turns ordinary encounters into dance.
The infinitesimal distance between two bodies was first commissioned as a 15-minute piece by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay as part of Dedicated to You, Esplanade’s 10th anniversary weekend celebrations. The artists have since developed it into a full length work under the support of the da:ns festival’s artist residency programme.
