The Sisters’ Islands – An Introduction to Traditional Chinese Woodwind Instruments at Esplanade Recital Studio

This performance features an animated film accompanied by live music and it is a restaging of the 2010 F.Y.I production of the same title. Part of a four-part series focusing on the different types of traditional Chinese instruments, this instalment features the woodwind section which comprises instruments such as sheng???, dizi????, suona????and xiao???. The animation is inspired by the legend of the Sisters’ Islands, the two islands that lie to the South of Singapore. The audience will get to interact with the performers and some may even get to try playing a woodwind instrument.
