Don’t be fooled by their name, the energetic indie rock of Coconuts is deeply influenced by their artistic and philosophical aspirations in life.
Lead singer Ji Xinpei (Apay) formed the band with guitarist Han Likang, bassist Tu Ruixin and drummer Peter, and they soon grew into prominence as one of the most unique sounds to have emerged in the Taiwanese music scene in the past decade. Rising in popularity through their hit singles such as Nuts’ Thing is Big, the band was marked by StreetVoice and other critics as one of the top bands of 2012 in Taiwan. Apay has also released several solo albums, including Life and Small World.
At times heartwarming, at times spicily exhilarating, Coconuts serves up music that that is bound to satisfy your hunger for good music! Fans can also expect to hear some of Apay’s solo works in this concert.
