Recognized as one of the most innovative forces in the modern dance work, the award-winning choreographer and dancer Bill T. Jones presents the world premiere of his latest talking solo Making & Doing at the Singapore International Festival of the Arts. Through rapid movement and gesture, Jones speaks about creativity: how to take an idea from inception to stage and what it means to be a maker in the world today. This rare, one-night-only performance will be presented on September 14, 2016, 8PM at the Singapore International Festival of the Arts, Theater 72-13. Tickets $25.

Following Jones's performance will be a site-specific new work, A Letter/Singapore, presented by the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company on September 15-17, 2016, 8PM at the Singapore Airlines Theatre, LASALLE, Singapore International Festival of the Arts. Created specifically for Singapore, Jones collaborated on the work with LASALLE College of the Arts dance students during a residency with his company in Singapore. Tickets $25, $40, $55.

A Letter/Singapore brings together social/political and deeply personal impulses. With dazzling neoclassical gestures, sensuous disco physicality and passionate jives, the movements of the dancers evoke streetscenes or stills from the evening news, superimposed violent battles, civic unrest or a hospital bed untethered from reality. Composer Nick Hallett, baritone Matthew Gamble and DJTonyMonkey perform and mix live a delirious spread of lullabies, rhythm and blues and house music. The eclectic sounds echo the varied dance styles and techniques performed by the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company.

Bill T. Jones is one of the world's foremost multi-talented artists with an illustrious and award-winning career as a dancer, choreographer, theatre director and writer. He has received major honors ranging from a 1994 MacArthur Genius Award to a 2010 Kennedy Center Honor to a 2013 National Medal of Arts. Jones was recognized as Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in 2010, inducted into the American Academy of Arts & Sciences in 2009 and named "An Irreplaceable Dance Treasure" by the Dance Heritage Coalition in 2000. His creations on Broadway include the highly acclaimed "Spring Awakening" and "FELA!", for which he won 2007 and 2010 Tony Awards for Best Choreography.
