Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year more than 16,000 K-12 students in Central Texas will attend their first-ever Broadway School Show and additional school day performances as Texas Performing Arts (TPA) Austin’s largest arts organization will educate and inspire even more students through live performance. This is great news for achieving greater awareness of the rich array of performing arts available to us in the Austin area.

I grew up with “The Wizard of Oz.” Every year we set aside that one night when the 1939 MGM film with Judy Garland as Dorothy came on our black and white console television. We huddled around the screen with bowls of popcorn and feasted on the fantasy world of Oz.

Beginning July 17, Malvern-based theatre People’s Light (39 Conestoga Road, Malvern, PA 19355) concludes its 49th season with the regional premiere presentation of Somewhere Over the Border by Emmy Award-nominated playwright, actor, and composer Brian Quijada. See photos from the production.
