Based on the smash hit 2003 film, SCHOOL OF ROCK - THE MUSICAL follows Dewey Finn, a failed wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. Completely disinterested in academic work, Dewey decides to create his own curriculum, turning his class into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. Tony Award-winner Catherine Zeta-Jones and her husband screen star Michael Douglas stopped by the Winter Garden Theatre with their children to catch a performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber's latest musical, SCHOOL OF ROCK. At last night's very first performance of School of Rock - The Musical on Broadway, cast members from the School of Rock film, met the cast of the new musical backstage at the Winter Garden Theatre.

Andrew Lloyd Webber released a fully immersive 360° music video for 'You're in the Band,' a musical number from his upcoming Broadway show, SCHOOL OF ROCK - THE MUSICAL, earlier this week. Shot in a real NYC classroom, this innovative 360° video produced for the Broadway production is one of the first of its kind on YouTube or Facebook. Below, Demeter the Cat (Gayle Holsman Seay) from Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS poses in front of her former longtime home, the Winter Garden Theatre, as it gets ready for Lloyd Webber's newest show, SCHOOL OF ROCK, to open this fall. Seay played the role of Demeter in the final Broadway cast of CATS, which occupied the Winter Garden for a record-breaking 18 years. SCHOOL OF ROCK begins previews there November 9, with an oepning night slated for December 6, 2015.

Before heading to Broadway this fall, School of Rock - THE MUSICAL rocked the Gramercy Theatre (127 E 23rd Street) for a brief residency, June 3rd through June 6th, with a public performance last night, June 9th. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, School of Rock-The Musical, will soon have its World Premiere on Broadway. Previews will begin on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Winter Garden Theatre, with an opening set for Sunday, December 6. Over the weekend, hundreds of musically gifted children gathered at the Winter Garden for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to join the most famous kid band of all time. An open casting call was held, at which hundreds of kids tried to rock, whale, strum and drum their way to Broadway glory on the stage of the Winter Garden Theatre (former home, for nearly 18 record-shattering years, toAndrew Lloyd Webber's Cats). BroadwayWorld was there for the auditions and you can check out photos of the kids below!
