The stage musical comedy is adaptated from Pedro Almodovar’s 1988 film following Pepa, a Spanish voiceover actress whose lover leaves her for another woman. Preview performances will begin at the Playhouse from 20 December 2014, with opening night 12 January 2015.

Tony Award winner Barlett Sher will direct, who was at the helm of the original Broadway production four years ago. Since then the musical has been “recalibrated” working with creators Jeffrey Lance and David Yazbek to scale down the band, rewrite characters and songs, tone down sets and costumes, and simplify and restructure the book. The musical was workshopped in London with Grieg, Sher and Oscar winner Almodovar there as an observer.
